Understanding Sleep mode
Automile's Asset Trackers has a so-called sleep mode that is important to understand how it works.
When the device is in sleep mode, all electronics are switched off. Sleep mode allows the device to be used for a long time without being permanently connected to a battery or needing to be charged.
When the device moves, you will receive a motion alarm to your mobile phone (or more if you wish). If you do not respond to this motion alarm within the specified time, the device will go to sleep mode for the number of hours you selected in the settings.
For example:
The device is connected to a backhoe. When the backhoe moves, a motion alarm will be sent to your app. If you do not choose to answer the motion alarm, the unit will go to sleep mode for the number of hours you selected (for example 8 hours). After 8 hours, the unit will react again if the backhoe moves.
If you have the device connected to a permanent battery, if you want to choose a short sleep mode, for example, 1 hour. If you can not answer the motion alarm, the unit will sleep for 1 hour and you will then be able to receive a new motion alarm.
Sleep Time Options
For your convenience, we have provided options for sleep time from "Never Sleep" up to 16 hours.
Never Sleep: If the device isn't connected to another power source, the battery may drain quickly in 'Never Sleep' mode.
Similarly, the longer sleep duration, you choose, the battery life will be longer. You can really adjust this based on your use case.
